Breaking Boundaries: Empowering Student Research

Welcome to the home of the Social Sciences Research Event

On Saturday 3rd May 2025, we are hosting an event to display the best research conducted by Social Science students from the University of Nottingham. The event will provide a showcase for current and prospective students to explore the kind of research conducted at the university in the fields of Politics, International Relations, Sociology, Economics, Geography, and Law.

This year's theme is Breaking Boundaries: Empowering Student Research to celebrate the broad range of innovative studies and projects embarked on within our student community. There will also be a chance to hear from some of our world-leading academics about the critical work that they are doing to break boundaries in their respective fields.

If you are completing a piece of independent research at Undergraduate, Postgraduate or PhD level and would like to share it please complete the form below. You have the option of following in the footsteps of our academics by delivering a small presentation on your research or you can deliver a research poster, a visual display outlining your findings.

If you are interested in learning about the work conducted by students at all levels of university life, we will be shortly opening applications to attend the event. You will have the opportunity to watch the presentations and view the array of posters on display.

We will provide prizes to the best pieces of research and there will be an array of refreshments on offer.

We look forward to seeing you there!
